Project Manager

Powering over 13,000 trading screens and 50+ marketplaces worldwide, Trayport is the leading provider of real-time commodity trading software to Inter-dealer Brokers, Traders and Exchanges. With clients that include over 140 major investment banks and utilities, our platform underpins a very significant proportion of European Natural Gas, Electricity, Coal and Carbon Emissions trades.

Over the past 18-months, Trayport has grown significantly. We are delivering further growth in 2012 and thus have an aggressive portfolio of strategic projects that need to be delivered.

Role Profile

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager who will be accountable for the timely delivery of high quality software solutions to the commodities industry. 

Responsibilities

- Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Working closely with our customers and internal stakeholders to understand the business requirements for the project, developing effective working relationships and ongoing management processes
  • Defining project deliverables, resource requirements and work plans for the project, then managing their development and delivery

- Project planning and control, including:

  • Developing and maintaining the project Mandate, plan and business case
  • Managing project deliverables in line with the project plan (formalised within the project initiation document)
  • Managing project scope and effective change control
  • Recording and mitigating project risks and issues, escalating where necessary
  • Resolving cross-functional issues at project level
  • Managing, monitoring and motivating the cross functional team assigned to the project
  • Managing the software development process, including co-ordinating the delivery of software process artefacts and facilitating regular project  meetings
  • Successfully managing co-ordination of the stakeholders and working groups engaged in project work
  • Providing timely status reports to stakeholders
  • Ensuring compliance with the project methodology framework at all times

- Play a key part in developing and refining internal project framework processes in line with changing business demands

Skills
  • A proven track record of successfully delivering software development projects
  • Experience of the whole project life cycle, able to operate in all project stages from initiation to delivery
  • Excellent client facing skills
  • Experience of managing Third Parties, customers and suppliers
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies, particularly PRINCE2
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies, particularly SCRUM
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills at all business levels
  • Ability to manage upwards and delegate effectively
  • The ability to have a strong impact and influence key decisions and decision makers
  • Formal project management qualification (PRINCE2, PMP) desirable
